Join The Catholic Theological Union on an Interfaith Pilgrimage to Spain

Step into the crossroads of faith, culture, and history on an extraordinary interfaith pilgrimage through Spain with Catholic Theological Union. Journey from the vibrant streets of Barcelona to the ancient cities of Andalusia and the spiritual heart of Madrid, tracing centuries of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim encounter. Pray and reflect at Montserrat before the Black Madonna, marvel at the soaring beauty of La Sagrada Familia, and walk through sacred spaces shaped by coexistence and conflict—from the Mezquita-Cathedral of Córdoba to the synagogues of Toledo and the grandeur of the Alhambra in Granada. Experience Shabbat in Sevilla, celebrate Mass along the way, and engage deeply with Spain’s rich religious heritage through shared meals, reflection, and conversation.

Accompanying the pilgrimage are three distinguished scholars who will offer insight and dialogue throughout the journey: Sr. Barbara E. Reid, O.P., Ph.D., President Emerita and Carroll Stuhlmuelle, C.P. Distinguished Professor of New Testament Studies at Catholic Theological Union; Syed Atif Rizwan, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Islamic and Interreligious Studies and Director of the Catholic–Muslim Studies Program at Catholic Theological Union; and David Shyovitz, Ph.D., Associate Professor of History and Director of the Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies at Northwestern University. Blending sacred art and architecture, prayer and learning, and moments of leisure with profound encounter, this pilgrimage invites you to engage Spain not only as a destination, but as a living classroom of interfaith understanding—returning home enriched in faith, knowledge, and friendship.
