2025 Jubilee Year: Rome and Assisi

Join Fr. Chas Canoy of St. John the Evangelist and Fr. Steve Mattson of Church of the Resurrection on a beautiful Jubilee pilgrimage to Italy in 2025! On this tour you'll visit Assisi and walk in the footsteps of St. Clare and St. Francis in Assisi before heading to Rome. All of the special opportunities await, including tours of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel and passing through the Holy Doors at St. Peter's Basilica. The weekly audience with the Holy Father is planned and daily Mass. The pilgrimage concludes with a free day to explore Rome on your own! A special 5 day pre-trip is planned to join our priests on the Adriatic Coast of Italy. DAY 1: Monday, May 26 • Departure

Depart on independent, overnight flights to Rome, Italy.


DAY 2: Tuesday, May 27 • Rome

Welcome to the Eternal City! Upon arrival, meet your Italian  tour manager and board a private motor coach, stopping  for lunch and a visit to the scenic Church of Sant’Anna in  Pietrelcina or St. Francis in Piana Romana, depending on  arrival time. Continue to San Giovanni Rotondo, the home  of St. Padre Pio for over fifty years. Check in to the hotel  and gather for a group dinner. Overnight in San Giovanni  Rotondo.


DAY 3: Wednesday, May 28 • San Giovanni Rotondo

Today, walk in the footsteps of St. Padre Pio, celebrating  Mass at the ancient Church of Our Lady of Grace. Following  Mass, tour the sanctuary, the old church, and the crucifix  from which St. Padre Pio received the stigmata, followed by  a visit to the cell he once occupied. In the afternoon, explore  the Church of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, with time for private  prayer at the glass tomb encasing this great saint. Gather  for a group dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.


DAY 4: Thursday, May 29 • Monte Sant'Angelo

Depart this morning for Monte Sant’Angelo to learn about  the fascinating apparitions of Archangel Michael and  celebrate Mass. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the town’s  cobbled streets and quaint, white-washed houses. In the  afternoon, visit St. Matthew’s Monastery to receive a blessing  with the relic of St. Matthew and Holy Oil, followed by dinner  on your own and an overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.


DAY 5: Friday, May 30 • Lancino (Eucharistic Miracle)

Check out of the hotel and journey to Lanciano and the  Church of San Francesco, home to the Sanctuary of the  Eucharistic Miracle. Celebrate Mass and witness the 8thcentury miracle where the bread and wine have been  preserved in the form of Christ’s flesh and blood. Explore  this architectural wonder, where the city’s walls and  medieval shops are perfectly preserved, before continuing  to Loreto for hotel check-in and a group dinner. Overnight in  Loreto.


DAY 6: Saturday, May 31 • Loreto to Assisi

Embark on a spiritual journey in Loreto, visiting the Basilica  della Santa Casa, home to the Holy House of Nazareth,  where the Virgin Mary once lived. Marvel at the exquisite  frescoes and intricate artwork within the beautiful  Sanctuary of the Holy House, surrounded by chapels  and the majestic Apostolic Palace. Enjoy a peaceful stroll  through Piazza della Madonna before continuing to Assisi  for a late afternoon hotel check-in, meeting more fellow  pilgrims for a group dinner and overnight.

DAY 1: Friday, May 30 • Departure

Depart Detroit on overnight flights to Rome.


DAY 2: Saturday, May 31 • Arrive Rome

Arrive in Rome, where you’ll be greeted by your Italian  tour manager before boarding a private motor coach to  Assisi. Along the way, enjoy the opportunity to stop for  lunch at your leisure. Upon arrival in Assisi, check in to  your hotel and unwind with a welcome group dinner,  followed by an overnight.


DAY 3: Sunday, June 1 • Assisi

This morning, immerse yourself in the beauty of Assisi with  a walking tour of this magnificent hilltop Umbrian town,  renowned for its art, architecture, and serenity. Explore  the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and Basilica of St. Clare,  followed by Mass. See the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who  is set to be canonized in 2025. In the evening, enjoy leisure  time exploring Assisi at your own pace, experiencing local  cuisine. Overnight in Assisi.


DAY 4: Monday, June 2 • Assisi

Celebrate Mass this morning prior to departure for the  Eternal City, stopping along the way for lunch. Upon  arrival, explore the iconic Holy Doors of the Basilica of St.  Paul Outside the Walls and the Basilica of St. Mary Major,  pending time available. In the late afternoon, check in to  your hotel, followed by a group dinner and overnight in  Rome.


DAY 5: Tuesday, June 3 • Assisi to Rome |  Holy Doors

This morning. celebrate Mass followed by a guided tour of  the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, where you  will view some of the most inspiring works of art, including  Michelangelo’s magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement.  Afterward, tour St. Peter’s Basilica and walk through the  Holy Doors. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure  in the Vatican City and St. Peter’s Square. Explore the area  for dinner on your own and overnight in Rome.


DAY 6: Wednesday, June 4 • Papal Audience

Celebrate an early Mass and attend the weekly Papal Audience  with Pope Francis (pending the Holy Father’s schedule).  Afterward, tour the Basilica of St. John in Lateran, passing  through the Holy Doors. Visit the revered Scala Sancta (Holy  Stairs) in the afternoon. Conclude your Jubilee Year pilgrimage  with a special farewell dinner this evening, followed by an  overnight in Rome.


DAY 7: Thursday, June 5 • Rome | Free Day

Enjoy the freedom of an unscheduled day where several  options will be presented by your tour manager, including  sightseeing and dining ideas. Overnight in Rome.


DAY 8: Friday, June 6 • Depart Italy

Check out of hotel and transfer to the Rome airport for your  return flights home.
