If Christianity was born in Israel, it grew up in Turkey. This makes Turkey, which was once called Asia Minor, the 2nd Holy Land. St. John was bishop of Ephesus and lived here with Mary. St. Paul established churches here.

St. Paul spent much of his time in Turkey of today and sent 4 epistles there. Mary lived there and we have Mass at Mary’s House. St. John was bishop of Ephesus, wrote the Epistle of St. John from Ephesus and his tomb is there.

The first 8 Ecumenical Councils took place in Turkey, the Council of Nicea was there where Jesus was declared “God from God”, St. Nicholas was from Myrsa, the 7 churches of Revelation are there. Istanbul is one of the coolest cities in the world with the Hagia Sofia, cruise on the Bosphorus and the exotic Spice Market. Tarsus and Antioch where we were first called Christians (Acts 11:26), Apostolic Fathers Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp of Smyrna, and on and on. And this is only the beginning…
