Itinerary


DAY 1: TUESDAY JANUARY 16 • DEPART FOR ITALY

Depart Chicago for Rome, Italy via overnight flights.


DAY 2: WEDNESDAY JANUARY 17 • ARRIVAL IN ROME | ASSISI

Arrive in Rome and meet your Italian tour manager. Transfer by private motor coach to Assisi. Upon arrival, celebrate Mass at St. Mary of the Angels Basilica, and see the famous Porziuncola where the Franciscan order began. Check-in to the hotel with time to freshen up. Enjoy your first night in Italy with a special Welcome Dinner. Overnight in Assisi.


DAY 3: THURSDAY JANUARY 18 • ASSISI

This morning, take a guided tour of the Basilica of St. Francis and celebrate Mass. Continue with a walking tour of the City of Peace and visit the Church of St. Clare to see her tomb and the cross that spoke to St. Francis, leading him to a life of piety, the Cross of San Damiano. After lunch on your own, the remainder of the day is yours to explore and try the specialties of the region including olive oil, truffles, Norcia sausage and cheeses. Time permitting, visit the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis to learn about the sanctified life of this newly beatified millennial. Dinner on your own and overnight in Assisi.


DAY 4: FRIDAY JANUARY 19 • LORETO | LANCIANO | SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO

After breakfast, depart for San Giovanni Rotondo, with a stop in Loreto. Visit the Marian Shrine of Loreto and the Holy House of Nazareth. See the beautiful Madonna of Loreto where more than 50 popes have traveled on pilgrimage. Celebrate Mass. Continue to Lanciano, to see the 8th century Eucharistic Miracle. You can still see the bread and wine that is now preserved in the form of flesh and blood. Finally, arrive in San Giovanni Rotondo and check-in to hotel. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.


DAY 5: SATURDAY JANUARY 20 • SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO | MONT SANT ANGELO

This morning, celebrate Mass at Santa Maria delle Grazie, the second most visited Catholic shrine in the world. Following Mass, tour the sanctuary, the old church, and the crucifix from which St. Padre Pio received the stigmata in 1918. Then, visit the tomb of Padre Pio at the new shrine where you will enjoy a guided tour of the shrine and other important surrounding sites. Stop for a visit to Mont Sant Angelo to pray at the Grotto of St. Michael the Archangel. Many Popes and Saints have prayed at this grotto seeking the protection of St. Michael. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.


DAY 6: SUNDAY JANUARY 21 • BARI | ROME

This morning, breakfast and hotel check out before departing for Bari. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Nicholas and pray at the tomb of this beloved saint. Enjoy some free time to explore. Then, depart for the Eternal City of Rome and check-in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Rome.


DAY 7: MONDAY JANUARY 22 • ST. PETER’S BASILICA | FREE AFTERNOON

This morning celebrate Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica. Take a guided tour of the magnificent Church and St. Peter’s Square. The remainder of the day is yours to visit the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, climb to the top of the cupola (St. Peter’s Dome), or take for a stroll on the Via Condotti to do some high-end window shopping on your own. This evening enjoy a leisurely walking tour to see the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. Dinner on your own and overnight in Rome.


DAY 8: TUESDAY JANUARY 23 • COLOSSEUM | MAJOR BASILICAS OF ROME

After breakfast, take a guided Ancient Rome tour that includes the inside of the Colosseum. Then, take a tour of Christian Rome and the other major Basilicas of Rome, St. Mary Major and St. John in Lateran, which is the Cathedral of Rome. End at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Wall, the newest of the major basilicas and resting place of the Apostle to the Gentiles, to celebrate Mass. The remainder of the evening is free to explore the Eternal City on your own. Overnight in Rome.


DAY 9: WEDNESDAY JANUARY 24 • PAPAL AUDIENCE | OUR LADY OF PEACE | FAREWELL DINNER

This morning attend the Papal Audience (pending the Holy Father’s final schedule). Continue to Our Lady of Peace, the Prelatic Church of Opus Dei, housing the mortal remains of St. Josemaría Escrivá and Blessed Álvaro del Portillo. Celebrate Mass. Enjoy a special Farewell Dinner together to conclude the pilgrimage. Overnight in Rome.


DAY 10: THURSDAY JANUARY 25 • DEPART ITALY

This morning check out of the hotel and depart for the Rome Airport for your flights to the USA.

TRAVEL PROTECTION:

Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) travel protection is highly recommended. 


PAYMENT & CANCELLATION TERMS:

  • Deposit: $500 per person due upon registration

  • Second Deposit: $1,250 additional due 150 days prior to departure (August 19, 2023)

  • Final Payment: Balance due on or before 75 days prior to departure (November 2, 2023)

All payments are non-refundable, and subject to CTS Terms and Conditions including the CTS Liability Release. All cancellations must be  received in writing. Penalties will be determined according to postmark date, or date of the fax or email sent by the canceling passenger.
