The year 2025 has been designated a Year of Jubilee by Pope Francis. The Holy Doors of the major basilicas of Rome will be open for this special year. You're invited to join Bishop Edward M. Lohse, Fr. Bob Creagan, and the Diocese of Kalamazoo on a pilgrimage to Assisi and Rome. Celebrate daily Mass in beautiful and historic Churches, attend the Sunday Angelus and Wednesday Papal Audience with the Holy Father in St. Peter's Square, walk through the Holy Doors, and savor the rich culture and delicious cuisine that Italy has to offer! ITINERARY
Day 1: Wednesday, March 19 - Depart for Rome
Depart USA for Rome, Italy via overnight flights.
Day 2: Thursday, March 20 - Arrival in Rome | Assisi
Benvenuti a Roma! Meet your professional Italian tour manager, then board a private motor coach and transfer to Assisi, the City of Peace. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and see the famous Porziuncola, where the Franciscan order began. Gather with the group for a special welcome dinner and overnight in Assisi.
Day 3: Friday, March 21 - Assisi
Celebrate a morning Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and then enjoy guided visits of the Basilica and the Church of St. Clare. Marvel at the cross that spoke to St. Francis, igniting his path to a life of piety. Then, visit the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis to learn about the sanctified life of this newly beatified millennial. The evening is free to explore this quaint Umbrian town and savor regional specialties, such as locally sourced olive oil, truffles, Norcia sausage and cheeses. Overnight in Assisi.
Day 4: Saturday, March 22 - Rome | Piazzas & Pizzas
Journey to Rome, the Eternal City, and dive into the heart of its timeless beauty with a walking tour exploring iconic landmarks, such as the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva and Piazza Navona. Celebrate Mass, then add a dash of Italian flavor to your evening with a traditional pizza making class and dinner. Overnight in Rome.
Day 5: Sunday, March 23 - St. Mary Major Basilica | Papal Angelus | Ancient Rome Tour
This morning, celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major and take time to walk through the Holy Doors. Pray the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square with the Holy Father and experience a guided Ancient Rome tour that includes an inside visit to the Colosseum, followed by Capitol Hill, and the Roman Forum. The remainder of the day is free for you to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 6: Monday, March 24 - The Holy Doors
Start your day with Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica. Proceed through the Holy Doors, spend time in prayer, then visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. Explore St. John Lateran, the Cathedral of Rome, and the nearby Basilica of the Holy Cross, which houses relics of the Passion. Conclude with a procession through the Holy Doors at St. Paul Outside the Walls. Enjoy local cuisine and an overnight in Rome.
Day 7: Tuesday, March 25 - Divino Amore | Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel
This morning, visit the Sanctuary Divino Amore, or the Shrine of Our Lady of Divine Love, the final Station Church. Celebrate Mass and enjoy a guided tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, where you will view some of the most inspiring works of art, including Michelangelo’s magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy and explore the city. Overnight in Rome.
Day 8: Wednesday, March 26 - Papal Audience | Catacombs | Farewell Dinner
Arise early to attend the Papal Audience with Pope Francis (pending the Holy Father’s schedule). Afterwards, travel along the Appian Way, the historic road that connects the two principal cities of Christianity – Jerusalem and Rome. Explore the catacombs of San Sebastian and celebrate Mass. Gather with the group for a special farewell dinner, concluding the pilgrimage. Overnight in Rome.
Day 9: Thursday, March 27 - Depart for the USA
Check out of the hotel and transfer to the Rome airport for your return flights home.

Final Payment: Balance due on or before 90 days prior to departure (12/19/2024)

All cancellations must be received in writing. Payments are non-refundable and subject to CTS Terms and Conditions, including the CTS Liability Release.
