Itinerary
DAY 1: SUNDAY OCTOBER 13 • DEPART FOR KRAKOW
Depart for Krakow, Poland on independent overnight flights.
DAY 2: MONDAY OCTOBER 14 • KRAKOW
Upon arrival in Krakow, meet your local tour manager who will be with you throughout the pilgrimage. Check-in to your hotel to freshen up and celebrate Mass. Enjoy a vodka tasting demonstration before your group welcome dinner.
DAY 3: TUESDAY OCTOBER 15 • KRAKOW
Start your day exploring one of the largest and most beautiful town squares in the world – Main Market Square with St. Mary’s Church. Proceed to Krakow’s Old Town, visiting Kanonicza Street where Pope John Paul II once resided. Explore Wawel Cathedral and the Coronation Cathedral. Celebrate Mass at the Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka and end with a pierogi-making class and dinner.
DAY 4: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 16 • WADOWICE | WIELICZKA SALT MINES
This morning, travel to Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II. Enjoy a group lunch before embarking on a tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, where Mass will be celebrated. Return to Krakow for an evening on your own.
DAY 5: THURSDAY OCTOBER 17 • AUSCHWITZ | DIVINE MERCY
Travel to Auschwitz, Europe’s largest World War II concentration camp, where Edith Stein and St. Maximilian Kolbe suffered martyrdom. Continue to the Congregation of Sisters of the Divine Mother of Mercy to celebrate Mass, pray the Divine Mercy Novena, and explore the convent and Basilica. If time allows, visit the “Have No Fear” Centre dedicated to John Paul II.
DAY 6: FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 • CZESTOCHOWA
Arise early for a trip to Czestochowa and the Jasna Gora Monastery, including the Treasure House and the chapel of the Black Madonna. Celebrate Mass in Czestochowa and transfer back to Krakow, ending the day with a delightful group dinner, including music by Polish composer, Chopin.
DAY 7: SATURDAY OCTOBER 19 • ZAKOPANE
Check out of the hotel and journey to the scenic hills of Zakopane. Take a 9-mile leisurely raft trip down the Dunajec River through the Pieniny Gorge and along the Polish Slovak border. Enjoy a group lunch and celebrate Mass at Krzeptówki Church. Overnight in Zakopane.
DAY 8: SUNDAY OCTOBER 20 • LITMANOVA | KOSICE
Check out of the hotel and drive to Litmanova Sanctuary, a Marian apparition site. Celebrate Mass and head to Kosice. Enjoy lunch at a local brewery before a city tour. Visit St. Elisabeth Cathedral and St. Michael’s Chapel and relax in one of the cafes before an overnight in Kosice.
DAY 9: MONDAY OCTOBER 21 • EGER | BUDAPEST
Today take a drive to the beautiful town of Eger, know for its Baroque architecture and great red wines. Celebrate Mass and visit Eger Castle and the Gothic Bishop’s Palace with panoramic views of the city. After a stop at the Basilica of Eger, drive to Szepasszony Valley and experience a tasting of delicious Eger wines. Head to Budapest for dinner and overnight.
DAY 10: TUESDAY OCTOBER 22 • BUDAPEST CITY TOUR
Explore Budapest’s rich history with a tour of its two distinct cities, Buda and Pest. Visit Buda Hill, including the stunning St. Matthias Church and the Fisherman’s Bastion. Take a walk through the Castle District. Cross the Danube to Pest, where you’ll explore the Central Market Hall and sample local cuisine. Celebrate Mass then visit the House of Parliament and St. Stephen’s Basilica. Drive to Heroes Square and, optionally, experience the Szechenyi Baths with 18 thermal pools.
DAY 11: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 23 • BUDAPEST DANUBE BEND
Today, enjoy the Danube Bend with beautiful landscapes. Visit Esztergom, the seat of the Archbishop of Esztergom, the primate of the Hungarian Catholic Church. Continue to Visegrád where the Papal Nuncio stayed as a guest in the luxurious palace of King Matthias. Celebrate Mass before a visit to Szentendre, gather for a group farewell dinner and final night in Budapest.
DAY 12: THURSDAY OCTOBER 24 • BUDAPEST DEPARTURE
Transfer to the Budapest Airport for independent flights home.
